“No budget” national tv spots
Situation: Quick turnarounds, budget constraints, and testing—whatever the reason, we are often asked to deliver high-performing spots with little to no budget. There was no opportunity for new shooting or content. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed in these moments, but panicking isn’t an option. These are defining moments that call for creative thinking. When working with limited resources, you must maximize what you have and create something impactful.
Action: Once I received these requests, I would immediately start scripting and outlining my ideal story. Next, I would connect with my guy Rob at VCR100 to review the footage that matched our needs. From there, it became a puzzle and a great challenge to create a cohesive final product, as if it had been "boarded and shot" specifically for this outcome. This assortment includes some of our original TV spots from 2018 to 2020.
Results: We created “Killer Connectivity,” which kickstarted our future in connected fitness. This was also the first creative piece I presented to my new CEO, and I heard an enthusiastic “FU$& yeah” out-loud reaction. I’ll take that kind of feedback any day. This two-week project, which was edited with just a few thousand dollars, outperformed a multi-million dollar campaign from a well-known agency. This led the Direct-to-Consumer business growth, reaching highs of $290 million in 2021.
